Jazzy North Carolina

Jazzy North Carolina

Several weeks ago I headed to North Carolina. A beautiful spring day. Trees were leafing out and daffodils bloomed along the roadway. The sun was shining and the traffic was light. Heading to my daughters I had a full week planned.

First was celebrating my son-in-laws 50th birthday. He is a perfectionist with his wood working skills. If any of you have reached (or passed) that milestone you would understand that he wasn’t anymore excited at turning 50 than the rest of us were when we hit that number.

The following day I spent with the Grandkids. It was a rainy day so all outdoor activities were out of the question. With a grade schooler, middle schooler, and high schooler they agreed on going shopping. Happy they agreed fairly quickly on what they wanted to do. We first went for lunch and then headed to the book store. I was happy with the choice as that is one of my favorite types of shopping. Next they chose to go to a department store. Another good choice as their is always something for every age. They were given a spending limit. I enjoyed watching each one putting their math skills to use. The youngest was determined to get the most from the money he was given.

On Sunday I spent at a Jazz Festival in the downtown area of Hendersonville, North Carolina. My daughter makes beautiful resin jewelry. She had a booth set up along with a dozen or so other vendors. We were set-up close to where the Jazz Band was playing. The musicians arrived all decked out in their green, gold, and purple lamee outfits. It was like a little piece of New Orleans had landed in North Carolina. One of the vendors across from us was selling Crayfish Bowls and Jambalaya. I couldn’t pass that up. The bowl consisted of a dozen or so Crayfish, boiled potatoes and a few green beans. You can see I was really digging in. Delicious!

Finally, I spent a day with old friends. Sitting at the local coffee shop, catching up on what has happened since the last time we were together. That is always a great time.

Full of love from friends and family I headed home. On the drive a small black bear scampered across the road ahead. That was the icing on the cake.
